COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Parent-tot program introduces children (6 months to 3 years) to the water with the support of a parent. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or even to survive in the water on their own. It typically consists of seven 20-minute lessons. A parent must be present and in the water for each child enrolled.
Parent-Tot A
Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment. Swimmers learn about water through exploration and are encouraged to enjoy themselves. (Typically 6 months to 24 months old)
Â
Parent-Tot B
Designed for infants and toddlers who are able to enter and exit the water with help and to enjoy the water with a parent or guardian. Parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Swimmers have fun and build confidence while parents learn about water safety. (Typically 2 years to 3 years old)
Please contact aquatics@northwestern.edu for more information on parent-tot lessons.
