  1. Access to the beach is by membership or paid admission only.
     
  2. Swimming is allowed in designated area only.
     
  3. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty.
     
  4. Swimming may be restricted or prohibited due to safety conditions.  Examples: lightning/rough water
     
  5. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited. A person under the influence of alcohol or exhibiting erratic behavior shall not be permitted in the beach area.
     
  6. Personal conduct within the beach must be such that safety is not jeopardized. Rough play, throwing people, sitting on or diving off other people's shoulders is prohibited.
     
  7. Use of inflatable objects or floatation devices, except Coast Guard-approved lifejackets, are prohibited.
     
  8. Fires and grills are prohibited on the beach.
     
  9. Littering is prohibited. In addition, no food, drink, gum or tobacco is allowed in the water. Glass containers are prohibited throughout the beach area.
     
  10. The launching and retrieving of boats are prohibited except for NU Sailing Center boats.
     
  11. Digging of large holes is prohibited. All holes must be filled in when leaving.
     
  12. Scuba diving is prohibited.
     
  13. Loud music that may disturb beach patrons is prohibited.
     
  14. Health codes prohibit pets on the beach. Feeding of wildlife or other actions that encourage their presence is prohibited.
     
  15. Children under ten years of age must be accompanied by an adult (15 years or older).
     
  16. Children who are not toilet-trained shall wear tightly fitted rubber or plastic pants.
     
  17. Admission to the beach shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease; any infectious conditions such as colds, fever, ringworm, foot infections, skin lesions, carbuncles, boils, diarrhea, vomiting, inflamed eyes, ear discharges; or any other condition that has the appearance of being infectious. Persons with excessive sunburn, abrasions that have not healed, corn plasters, bunion pads, adhesive tape, rubber bandages or other bandages of any kind also shall be refused admittance.
     
  18. Lake water is not suitable for drinking. Avoid swallowing lake water.
     
  19. Patrons are encouraged to protect themselves from sun exposure.
     
  20. Northwestern University is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
     
  21. Report all accidents, hazards or missing persons to the lifeguards.
