Job Description
As an official, you will play an essential role in our Intramural Sports program. You will help provide a fun and welcoming environment for participants while also enforcing sport and safety rules and regulations. You will assist in the operation of the Intramural Sports program through officiating sports such as flag football, volleyball, basketball, and more!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Officiate Intramural contests according to program and sport rules and mechanics
- Provide a safe and fun environment for participants. Be alert to injuries and inappropriate behavior and react as trained or report to supervisor accordingly.
- Learn and enforce sport rules and program policies and procedures
- Reports to supervisor all emergencies (accidents/injuries, inclement weather, etc.)
- Assist with participant management
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Performs scorekeeping responsibilities at events according to program and sport rules and mechanics
- Set up and break down activity areas before and after events
- Perform other work as assigned
Qualifications
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to work in inclement weather (rain or hot/cold conditions)
- Ability to remain calm and make good decisions during high-pressure situations
- Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations
- Ability to use independent judgment when needed
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
Additional Information
- Previous sports knowledge is preferred but not required
- Training provided
