Job Description
As an essential part of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for the supervision of the Norris Aquatics Center. You’ll be expected to demonstrate a high degree of competency in the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent, prepare for, and respond to aquatic emergencies. You will also enforce safety policies that aid in keeping patrons of the aquatics center safe.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the Norris Aquatics Center while enforcing pool/beach and safety policies and procedures
- Ensure the safety of all patrons
- Perform water rescues and administer First Aid, AED, and/or CPR when necessary
- Reports to supervisor all emergencies (accidents/injuries, inclement weather, etc.)
- Maintain lifeguarding skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis and current certifications, including any additional safety training
- Assist as needed with setup and teardown of aquatics center programs and events
- Assist with patron management
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Perform other work as assigned
Qualifications
- Hold a current Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (required)
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm and make good decisions during high-pressure situations
- Ability to stay focused in both monotonous and fast-paced environments
- Be reliable and self-motivated
- Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations
- Ability to use independent judgment when needed
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
