Job Description

Our swim instructors provide swimming and water safety instruction to individuals of all ages. As an instructor, you will facilitate both private and group lessons for participants with all levels of experience and confidence in the water. You will also enforce safety policies that aid in keeping students and patrons of the aquatics center safe.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities
  • Prepare well-designed lessons that take into account students’ abilities and progressive development
  • Evaluate the progress of swim lesson participants
  • Provide reports regarding participant progress to participants, parents, or guardians
  • Ensure the safety of all participants
  • Assist lifeguards in enforcing all policies and procedures
  • Maintain current certifications, including any additional safety training
  • Provide a safe, friendly, and inclusive learning environment
  • Perform other work as assigned


Qualifications

  • Hold a current American Red Cross Adult & Child CPR/AED certification or equivalent certification within eight weeks of start date (required)
    • On-site training is available. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to use independent judgment when needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Be reliable, positive, enthusiastic, friendly, outgoing, and creative


Additional Information

  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Additional training provided
