Private Swim Lessons

Participants must waitlist before beginning lessons.

PRIVATE LESSONS | COURSE DESCRIPTION

Private swim lessons offer one-on-one instruction for all ages and all abilities.  These lessons are 30 minutes long and can generally be scheduled any day the pool is open.

5 Private Lessons
NU Student/Member: $175
Non-Member: $225

Both youth group lessons and adult group lessons are also available.
 

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS | COURSE DESCRIPTION

Semi-private lessons offer one-on-two instruction for swimmers similar in age and swimming ability. It is recommended swimmers be at least 4 years old.
These lessons are 30 minutes long and can generally be scheduled any day the pool is open.

All private and semi-private lesson participants must first sign up for the waitlist before beginning swim lessons. Wait times are currently long. When we have an available instructor for your lesson, that instructor will email you to start the scheduling process. Once you have confirmed your schedule with the instructor, then you would register by visiting or calling the Membership Office at 847-491-4303. The Membership Office can only take registration information. They will not have waitlist status information.

RENEWING LESSONS

For security purposes, the NU Recreation Dept. does not keep any credit card information on file. If you like to renew your lessons, you can do so by calling the Membership Office at (847) 491-4303.

CLASS LOCATION

Classes are held on the Evanston campus at the Norris Aquatics Center located at 2311 Campus Drive. Click here for directions. Parking is available in the north campus garage which is attached to the Norris Aquatics Center.  Take elevator "A" to the first floor to reach the entrance of the facility. Parking is free on weekends and after 4p on weekdays.

The Norris Aquatics Center features a 25 yard x 50 meter pool which is home to the Northwestern Varsity Swimming and Diving teams. Water temperature is kept at a cool 80 degrees. Water depth ranges from 4 feet to 15 feet.

All non-NU students and members will need to bring an access card to every class in order to gain entrance to the facility. If you have not received your access card, please contact the Membership Office at 847-491-4303. Participants will meet on the pool bleachers before class.

Note: Family restrooms and family changing rooms are available
 

PARKING

Parking is free in the North Parking Garage on weekdays after 4pm and all day on the weekends. Parking permits are required to park between 8am to 4pm, Monday-Friday. Please click here for more information. 
 

INSTRUCTORS

The majority of our instructors are Northwestern students who are American Red Cross certified instructors, have experience teaching swim lessons, or are accomplished swimmers themselves. We assign our instructors depending on the client's swimming ability, age, and availability.
