Job Description

As the social media assistant, you'll play a crucial role in managing our social platforms including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Your responsibilities will involve developing and implementing creative social media strategies aimed at engaging diverse audiences and boosting brand visibility. From crafting captivating content to overseeing day-to-day platform management and analyzing performance metrics, you'll be instrumental in elevating our online presence.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily management of Recreation’s social platforms
  • Aid in developing and executing monthly content calendars
  • Engage and inform Northwestern students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community through creative means
  • Produce video-based content primarily for Instagram and TikTok
  • Capture live content at on-campus Recreation events (i.e., Intramural champ nights, sport club home events, group exercise classes, etc.)
  • Maintain consistent messaging and brand voice across all platforms
  • Stay updated on social media trends and concepts
  • Gather and analyze digital analytics for all channels
  • Work within set deadlines/timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned


Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices
  • A creative thinker willing to step outside the box
  • Ability to brainstorm and execute engaging social content for various audiences
  • Experience managing and producing social media content for a brand
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adhere to AP style guide
  • Strong attention to detail, well organized, a willingness to learn, and a robust work ethic
  • Experience with photography and/or videography is a plus

  • This position is capped at 15 hours per week; regular work weeks range from 5–10 hours
